First Responders in St. Mary’s County Save Four Subjects During Two Separate Vehicles Swept Away by Flood Water in Leonardtown

On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at approximately 10:08 p.m., fire and rescue personnel responded to the area of Medleys Neck Road and Church Creek Lane in Leonardtown, for the reported water rescue / occupied vehicle trapped in floodwater. While crews responded to the Medleys Neck Road incident. Fire and rescue personnel were then dispatched for another occupied vehicle in a ditch trapped in floodwater in the area of Point Lookout Road and Chingville Road in Leonardtown. Crews arrived on the scene to find the vehicle off the roadway with the occupant out of the vehicle and denying any injuries. Crews arrived on the scene to find a pickup truck off the roadway and in the woods with two occupants standing in the bed of the truck. Firefighters from Seventh District, Hollywood and Leonardtown operated on the scene with personnel dressed in water rescue suits and utilized Raft 5 to remove two people from the bed of a truck. Both occupants were brought back to dry land and declined medical care.
