Hit and Run in Great Mills Kills Puppy and Sends Male Pedestrian to Trauma Center

On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at approximately 5:45 p.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to Great Mills Road, in the area of Jay Dee Court, in Great Mills, for the reported motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and an animal. Crews arrived on the scene to find a puppy and adult male in the roadway. The striking vehicle fled the scene prior to arrival of emergency personnel. Emergency medical personnel requested a helicopter for the 22-year-old male victim, and found the 3-month-old puppy deceased at the scene. Witnesses told SMNEWSNET a grey passenger vehicle was involved. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the collision.
