Motor Vehicle Collision Involving Pedestrian in Leonardtown Sends One to Trauma Center, Two to Hospital

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, at approximately 6:34 p.m., Ambulance 398 from the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad came upon a motor vehicle collision in the area of Point Lookout Road and Chingville Road in Leonardtown, with one subject laying in the roadway. Dispatchers alerted police, fire and rescue personnel at approximately 6:36 p.m., for the motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Firefighters arrived on the scene to report two vehicles on the Southbound shoulder of Point Lookout Road, with emergency medical personnel rendering aid to the pedestrian. Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 landed at the scene and transported the pedestrian to an area trauma center with serious injuries. The operator and pediatric occupant of the SUV were transported to an area hospital for precautionary reasons. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Updates will be provided when they become available.
