St. Mary’s College of Maryland Announces Six Faculty Promotions!

Congratulations to the St. Mary’s College of Maryland newly promoted faculty members, whose positions took effect on Monday, August 1, 2022. Promoted to associate professor: Tristan Cai (art) joined the faculty in 2016. His multi-disciplinary art practice reflects on the ways in which we socially construct knowledge in our image-saturated epoch. Cai has received the San Francisco Art Institute MFA Fellowship Award, an Independent Arts Award from the Maryland State Arts Council, the Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Award, as well as the Professional Development Grant and Arts Bursary Award from the National Arts Council of Singapore. Ayse Ikizler ‘07 (psychology) joined the faculty in 2016. Her research focuses on the link between various forms of oppressive experiences and mental health outcomes among marginalized groups, with a special interest in Arab/Middle Eastern Americans, sexual minorities and Muslim mental health. George MacLeod (French) joined the faculty in 2016. MacLeod teaches all levels of French and has recently taught courses on the Francophone graphic novel, childhood in Francophone literature, an introduction to Francophone film, and an introduction to the history and cultures of the Francophone world.
