State Fire Marshal Investigating Fatal House Fire in Lusby

On Friday, April 1, 2022, at approximately 3:25 p.m., firefighters from Calvert and St. Mary’s County responded to the 12100 block of Double Tree Lane in Lusby, for the reported house on fire with subjects trapped. 911 dispatchers reported the subject was able to be pulled from the residence prior to the arrival of firefighters, with callers reporting the victim had serious burns. Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 was pre-launched to respond. Crews arrived on the scene to find a two-story residence with fire showing from the rear deck. A short time after arrival, units cancelled the helicopter and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal are responding to the scene to investigate the incident. American Red Cross and SMECO has been requested. Updates will be provided when they become available.
