UPDATE 8/3/2023: The 1-story single family home owned/occupied by Craig and Kimberly Skidmore suffered over $400,000.00 in loss of structure and content Investigation determined the fire started in the dryer located in the laundry room and has been deemed accidental. One cat perished in the fire. The occupants of the home are being assisted by the American Red Cross. There were no injures as a result of the fire. A GoFundMe has been started to assist the family as they have lost many belongings. Please share! 8/2/2023: On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at approximately 4:35 p.m., firefighters from Hughesville, Mechanicsville, Benedict, Hollywood, and Seventh District responded to 30505 Vinessa Court in Charlotte Hall, for the reported house on fire. 911 callers reported a fire in the laundry room with the house full of smoke and reported one cat was trapped/missing in the residence. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a 1 story single family home with smoke showing and upon conducting a 360 of the residence, found fire showing from the rear.
