UPDATE: No Threat Determined Following Investigation of Incident at Webster Field

UPDATE 10/28/2020 @ 4:30 p.m.: Following reports of an individual with a weapon at Webster Field Oct. 28, 2020, an investigation by Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) has determined that the suspect taken in to custody had no weapon and had not made any threats. The individual has since been released without charge. NCIS is still investigating what led to an emergency call being made that resulted in Pax River Navy Security personnel responding to what had been initially described as an individual with a weapon at Webster Field’s Building 8140. At 10:35 a.m. Oct. 28, NAS Patuxent River emergency services received a report of an individual in Building 8140 at Webster Outlying Field with a firearm. A lockdown of Webster Field was put in place as NAS Patuxent River Security Forces responded to the scene and took a suspect in custody, who was transferred into the custody of NCIS.
